The New Girl Upstairs - Give Me Five

This time of year can be a tricky one to get right from a style perspective.   In fashion speak, we’re trans-seasonal, not quite out of winter but not yet fully in spring.   Not knowing whether it’s going to be warm and sunny, or cold and rainy from one day to the next can play havoc with your wardrobe-planning and can throw any styling efforts you are trying to make into disarray.

What we all need at this time of year are some go-to trans-seasonal pieces to take us effortlessly from one season to another with minimum fuss.    There are several that always do this for me whatever else is going on in fashion:  a beautiful trench, a new crisp, white shirt, a directional bag and, of course, a beautiful scarf.   These are the key items I can rely on to update my wardrobe every time and make me feel next-season-ready.

And whatever forms part of your own personal wardrobe update, the advice from those in the know is that a trans-seasonal piece should always point ahead to the new season and never back to the one that has just gone.   Simple.

If you are a regular visitor to our website (and I really hope you are), you have probably noticed the beautiful new number 37 scarves that arrived last week.    And so with my mind firmly on the trans-seasonal theme, I have chosen my top five key scarves from our new arrivals to take your wardrobe seamlessly from winter to spring.

In at number one are the Lace Panel Silk Mix Pashmina Shawl Wrap Scarves.  These stunning scarves are a wonderful addition to our number 37 lace collection.   The range is available in a stunning palette of colours featuring a romantic lace panel that taps into the new season’s love affair with the modern romantic look.    The silk mix fabric has a gentle shimmer that catches the light beautifully and would be perfect for a wedding or a glamorous day-time event at this time of year, when you really don’t know whether it is going to be sunny or wet.

I adore the next piece – the Blue Silk Scarf Patterned.   This pure silk scarf features an elegant and eye-catching floral decorative print in a rich palette of colours. If you have never bought a silk scarf before, perhaps now is the time to jump in as they really are so versatile (for some silk scarf-tying inspiration, see our blog, “How to Tie a Silk Scarf“).   The silks can be worn in a variety of ways:-  loose, tied at the neck or knotted at one shoulder to inject a touch of elegance and individuality.   They seem to channel a Left Bank Parisienne chic and would look great knotted at the side with the ends tucked into a classic trans-seasonal trench.

This luxuriously crafted Floral Print Italian Silk Mix in Black Pink & Grey comes in at number three and features an eye-catching on-trend graphic floral print in a stunning palette of black and shades of pink on a complementary soft white background.    Again, this scarf would look elegant and striking as a beautiful accessory over simple tailored accessories, perhaps a crisp shirt during the day or a simple block colour knit in the evening.

Next up I’ve chosen the Fringed Italian MicroModal Scarf Navy Blue – a gorgeous, lightweight transitional piece with complementary fringing detail.   Again, this range comes in a beautiful palette of spring colours and, with their fresh, clean appearance, feel just right for right now.

Another rainy/sunny/windy/cold day.    Another transitional wardrobe solution – enter the Animal Print Silk Scarf Red Border.    My final choice features an individual and and eye-catching animal and tropical print body in a rich palette of pink and purple.  It’s gorgeous.  Adding a splash of bright animal print to your wardrobe at this time of year instantly updates it and taps into not one but two of this season’s big trends – maximalist and animal – with an eclectic colour and print mix.

Time to go out and have fun.   But don’t forget your brolly.

Ciao bellissime.   A presto!
